Considering environmental issues, Lego announced: "farewell to plastic, start making toys with sugarcane."
In March 1st, Lego, a toy maker, announced that the company was preparing to transform some of its building blocks from original petrified plastics to pure plant materials, such as sugarcane from tropical rain forests in Brazil.
The first thing to "change" is the softer plants and shrubs. In the past, Lego used traditional polyethylene plastic to make it. By the end of 2018, they would turn the raw materials into sugarcane.
But this is just a small part of it. Of all the Lego building blocks, polyethylene materials account for only about 1% to 2% of the total, and the most popular Lego blocks are ABS plastic.
It may sound exaggerated, but we believe that we need to do this for children, that is to create their favorite toys without destroying the earth's home.
